I've never used a firewall at home. I had tried the usual free stuff like Zone Alarm only to see my access speeds decline. So I uninstalled it and never bothered again. Being behind a router does the trick for me. That said, I would NEVER do that in a corporate/business environment. At that stage, you definitely need real protection. I’m going to “side” with David on that.
